An artificial grass surface

Firstly, the artificial turf is an artificial grass surface manufactured from synthetic materials. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally performed on natural grass.

Today, it is used for recreation and landscaping. The history of artificial turf was born in 1910, a British researcher had patented a woven mat of fur animals used primarily for theater sets.

Over the years, the fur is replaced by synthetic materials and rubber that is in the 60s that the first stage of great games (football field, hockey, football, baseball and tennis now) synthetic turf was born in Texas (installed in 1965 in the Houston Astrodome).

Therefore, the artificial grass will be adopted to cover many football fields and other sports. The use of synthetic turf is widespread in the 1970s in the United States, mainly baseball and football. The first synthetic turf systems were not the aesthetics of natural grass. The turf has a second pulse in 1976, during the Olympic Games in Montreal (Canada) hockey games were played on artificial turf made of nylon.

In recent decades, new developments in synthetic turf for hockey were introduced, resulting in different types of water-based, sand dressed and filled with sand systems. Most hockey competitions are now played on artificial turf. The introduction of synthetic turf has dramatically changed the sport of hockey, which makes the game faster and enabling new playing techniques

In the 1980s, the industry began to develop synthetic turf for football in particular. Systems were designed with short hair and sand filling.

In the 1990s, the first synthetic turf systems with filling sand and rubber have been introduced. Player comfort has become increasingly important in the design of grass. The use of artificial turf for football is now supported by UEFA, FIFA and many national federations.

Over time and improvements manufacturers, synthetic turf has become more realistic. The nature of artificial turf being proposed in the 2000s is particularly convincing. Thanks to new technologies and new materials, artificial turf today are, in fact, an aspect "lawn" very successful, true-to-life reproduction with even a touch of natural grass.
